Shifting responsibility puts greater burden on aerospace suppliers
Growing market demands and increasing competition are requiring aircraft original equipment manufacturers (OEM) to restructure their relationships with their suppliers. Large companies at or near the top of the supply chain are shifting even more responsibility for innovation and productivity gains to the smaller, lower-tier builders of components and subsystems. OEMs need their suppliers to help them meet relentless price pressures from operators and airlines.
Tony Velocci, a 23-year veteran of Aviation Week, outlines these challenges in the whitepaper, “The OEM Handoff.” In the paper, he outlines:
- The factors driving greater demands on suppliers by OEMs
- Survival strategies to win in this new market dynamic
- The need to accelerate development while minimizing risk.
